The Judgment Seat Of Christ
(Signs Of The Times)

The Book of Revelation is a "Book Of Prophecy" — from beginning to end — as is seen by the fact that the very 1st Chapter — the 3rd Verse — Rev. 1:3 — states: "Blessed is he that reads and they that hear THE WORDS OF THIS PROPHECY..." and then the very last Chapter — the 3rd to the last Verse — Rev. 22:19 — states: "And if any man shall take away from the words of THE PROPHECY OF THIS BOOK..." This, then, tells us that the Book Of Revelation is a "Book of Prophecy" from beginning to end, and every thing in that book was prophetic at the time that it was written.

The Book of Revelation begins — in Chapter 1 — with a description of the Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven ministering for the believers in the midst of the Churches (symbolized by 7 Golden Candlesticks) as the Heavenly High Priest, as is described in Heb. 4:14 — "Seeing then that we have a GREAT HIGH PRIEST that is passed into the Heavens: Jesus the Son of God." We see, in Rev. 1 the Lord Jesus described as attired in the robes of the Heavenly High Priest:

Rev. 1:10 — "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day" (Sunday) "and I heard behind me a great voice as of a trumpet."
Rev. 1:12-17 — "And I turned to see the Voice that spoke with me, and being turned I saw Seven Golden Candlesticks"
(prophetic of the "Seven Churches" — Rev. 1:20).
"And in the midst of the Seven Candlesticks one like the Son Of Man" (Son Of God) "clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girded about his hips was a Golden Belt" (the Robe of the Heavenly High Priest).
"The hair of His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were as a flame of fire.
"And His feet were like unto fine brass as if they burned in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters.
"And He had in His hand Seven Stars"
(prophetic of "Seven Pastors (Angels)" — Rev. 1:20) "and out of His mouth with a sharp two-edged sword" (prophetic of the "Word Of God"— Heb. 4:12) "and His countenance was as the Sun shining in it's strength.
"And when I saw Him, I"
(John the Revelator) "fell at His feet as dead."

The reason why the Book Of Revelation begins this way is to let us know where the Lord has been at and what He has been doing since His Ascension into Heaven (Acts 1:9-11) and it shows us that the Lord has been and is now in Heaven ministering in behalf of the believers of the Churches as the Heavenly High Priest, and not only is that past tense (in that from the time of His Ascension until the present times He has been — in the past — ministering in Heaven as the Great High Priest), and that is also current tense in that even now — at the present time — Jesus Christ is still ministering in behalf of the believer in Heaven as the Great High Priest, and that is also prophetic (future tense) in that the Lord will continue — in the future — to be ministering for the believer in Heaven as the Great Heavenly High Priest until He returns to catch away His believers into Heaven in the event of the "Rapture Of The Church" at the end of the "Church Age".

When John the Revelator sees the Lord in Heaven, ministering among the Churches — symbolized by Seven Candlesticks — as the Heavenly High Priest, the Lord begins revealing and unveiling to John the prophecies of the Book Of Revelation and tells John to write that down and to send copies of it to the Seven Churches. And I might also note that those "Seven Churches" — because they are in a "Book Of Prophecy" are also prophetic in content in that they are prophetic of "Seven Stages Of Church History" (described in Rev. 2 and Rev. 3) that were to occur from the Day Of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4) until the event of the Rapture Of The Church and the time of the Great Tribulation that was to occur at the end of the "Church Age". In seven separate articles which I wrote in 2014 and 2015 in this "End Times Trumpet" I explained the prophetic meaning of each of those "Seven Letters To The Seven Churches". You will find that in the following articles:

          1) The Prophetic Church Of Ephesus — March 2014
          2) The Prophetic Church Of Smyrna — April 2014
          3) The Prophetic Church Of Pergamos — May 2014
          4) The Prophetic Church Of Thyatira — August 2014
          5) The Prophetic Church Of Sardis — January 2015
          6) The Prophetic Church Of Philadelphia — February 2015
          7) The Prophetic Church Of Laodicea — September 2015

The next Chapter of the Book Of Revelation — Revelation Chapter 4 — prophetically describes what is to occur next in God's prophetic schedule of end-times events, which is the event of the "Rapture Of The Church" at the end of the "Church Age":

Rev. 4:1 — "After this..." — after what? The obvious answer is: "after the Church Age is over" which is described in Revelation Chapters 1, 2, and 3. — "After this," ("after the Church Age is over") "I looked and behold a door was opened in Heaven and I heard a Voice that sounded like a Trumpet talking with me which said: 'Come Up Here!'"

This Verse — Rev. 4:1 — is prophetic of the event of the "Rapture Of The Church" that will occur after the "Church Age" has come to an end as is seen by the facts that:

          1) There is a door opened into Heaven — this is the door through which the Church Age born-again believers will pass into Heaven at the event of the Rapture Of The Church;
          2) There is a Voice that sounds like a Trumpet — this is the Trumpet that will sound at the event of the Rapture Of The Church;
          3) The Lord Jesus Christ commands — from Heaven — "Come up — this is the command that the believers will hear and heed to "rise up in the air" to "meet the Lord in the air" in the event of the Rapture Of The Church.

This Verse — Rev. 4:1 — compares very favorably with the "Rapture Scripture" of I Thess. 4:15-17 — "For this we say unto you by the Word of the Lord, that we" (born-again believers) "who are alive and remain" (upon this Earth) "unto the coming of the Lord will not prevent" (precede) "those" (believers) "who are asleep" (who are "sleeping the sleep of death in the graves").

"For the Lord" (Jesus Christ) "Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout" (the "shout" of "Come Up Here!") "with the voice of an Archangel and WITH THE TRUMPET CALL OF GOD," (the "Voice that sounds like a Trumpet") "and then the dead-in-Christ shall rise first.

     "Then we"
(born-again believers) "who are yet alive and remain" (upon the Earth) "shall be Caught Up" (shall be "Raptured") "together with them" (the dead-in-Christ who have been resurrected) "in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air" (to pass through the "Open Door" into Heaven) "and so shall we ever" (always) "be with the Lord!"

The next prophetical event that will occur for the believers in Heaven after the "Rapture Of The Church" will be the event of the "Judgment Seat" (Throne) "Of Christ" where the believers will be judged and rewarded. This will NOT be a "Judgment" to determine whether or not we will be allowed to stay in Heaven, but rather this Judgment will be a "Judgment Of Rewards" for the believers, as only the born-again believers will take part in this "Resurrection/Rapture" that takes them physically into Heaven. The sinful dead and living sinners will not participate in this "Resurrection/Rapture", as their Resurrection and event of being taken up into Heaven to be judged at the "Great White Throne Judgment" will not occur until the end of Jesus Christ's 1000 year Millennial Reign upon the Earth following His literal "Second Coming" at the end of the Great Tribulation.

The Resurrected/Raptured Believers being judged and rewarded at the "Judgment Seat Of Christ" is the event that is portrayed in Revelation Chapter 4.

Scriptures that refer to and foretell "The Judgment Seat Of Christ" are:

Rom. 14:10-12 — "But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you set at naught your brother? For we shall all stand before THE JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST.
"For it is written: 'As I live,' says the Lord,"
(Jesus Christ) "'every knee shall bow to Me and every tongue shall confess to God.'
"So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God."

II Cor. 5:10 — "For we"
(believers) "must all appear before THE JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST that everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to what he has done, whether it be good or bad."

This "Judgment Seat Of Christ" that will take place in Heaven for the believers after the event of the Rapture Of The Church (of Rev. 4:1) is described in the Book of Revelation in:

Rev. 4:2-3 — "And immediately I was in the Spirit and behold a Throne was set in Heaven and One sat on the Throne.
"And He that sat there was to look upon like a Jasper and a Sardine Stone and there was a Rainbow around about the Throne, in sight like unto an Emerald."

Fig. 1. "JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST & REWARDS - What is the Judgment Seat of Christ? It is the Rewards given to Believers at the Judgment Seat of Christ (2 Cor 5:10, Rom 14:10-12) for being Faithful Servants. Some Believers will Suffer a Great Loss of Rewards (1 Cor 3:14-15)."      At this "Judgment Seat Of Christ" the resurrected/"raptured" believers will be judged and rewarded for their "works".

H.L. Wilmington — in his book "The King Is Coming" — and Dr. Douglas Shaffer — in his internet article "Judgment Seat Of Christ" — list the following things that the Lord will likely "judge" and "reckon" with the resurrected/"raptured" believers about at the Judgment Seat Of Christ:

1) How we treat others — Heb. 6:10; Matt. 10:41-32
2) How well we exercise authority over others — James 3:1
3) How submissive we are to authority over us — Heb. 13:17
4) How we employ our God-given talents and abilities — II Tim. 1:6; I Pet. 4:10; Matt. 25:14-31
5) Whether or not we have been faithful to God in the stewardship of our money — I Tim. 6:17-19; I Cor. 16:2; II Cor. 9:6-7; Luke 16:1-2; I Cor. 4:12
6) How well we have endured persecution — Matt. 5:10-12; I Pet. 4:12-13; II Cor. 4:17; Rom. 8:18
7) How we spend our time — Eph. 5:15; Col. 4:5; I Pet. 1:17; Psalm 90:12
8) How well we have "run the race that is set before us" — I Cor. 9:24; Phil. 3:13-14
9) How well be control the "old nature" — I Cor. 9:25-27
10) How faithful we are in witnessing to sinners — Prov. 11:30; I Thess. 2:19:20, and in warning sinners to turn away from their sins — Ezek. 3:18; Acts 20:26-27
11) How we react to trials, tests, and temptations — James 1:2-3; Rev. 2:10
12) For the words we have spoken — Matt. 12:36
13) How we have lived our Christian life — I Tim. 5:24-25.

When our "works" are "tried" before the fiery eyes of Jesus at the "Judgment Seat Of Christ" some of those "works" will be "burned up" like "wood, hay, and stubble" and not found worthy of reward, while others of our "works" will endure like "gold, silver, and precious stones" and will be found worthy of reward. Describing this,

I Cor. 3:11-15 says "For other Foundation can no man lay then that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
"Now if any man build upon this Foundation — Gold, Silver, and Precious Stones — or Wood, Hay, and Stubble —
"Every man's work shall be made manifest for the Day"
(of "The Judgment Seat Of Christ") "will declare it" (will make it known) "because it shall be revealed by Fire" (the fiery eyes of the Lord Jesus Christ) "and the Fire" ("fiery eyes" of Jesus Christ) "shall try every man's work, of what sort it is.
"If any man's work abide which he has built thereupon, he shall receive a reward"
("Gold, Silver, and Precious Stones") "but if any man's works shall be burned he shall suffer loss" ("Wood, Hay, and Stubble") "but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by Fire."

The rewards that the believers will receive in Heaven at the "Judgment Seat Of Christ" will be:

1) A Mansion/Palace Home in Heaven — Jn. 14:1-3 — (Jesus speaking) — "In My Father's House" (Heaven) "are many Mansions. If it were not so I would have told you so. I go to prepare a place" (a Mansion) "for you."

2) Robes Of Righteousness — this is what we see the judged and rewarded believers clothed in in Rev. 4-5 —      Rev. 4:4 — "And around about the Throne" (of Christ) "were four and twenty seats" (small thrones) "and upon the seats" (small thrones) "I saw four and twenty Elders sitting CLOTHED IN WHITE RAIMENT..."

These "24 Elders" are a prophetic picture of the entire Church Of The Old Testament and The New Testament, in that we find the Old Testament Nation Of Israel/Church referred to as "The Church In The Wilderness" in Acts 7:38, while the New Testament believers over and over in the New Testament are referred to as "The Church" (Acts 2:47) or the "Bride Of Christ" (Jn. 3:29; Rev. 22:17).

Probably 12 of the "24 Elders" will be the Old Testament Patriarchs — Heads of the 12 Tribes Of Israel — who were Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Zebulun, Issachar, Dan, Gad, Asher, Naphtali, Joseph, and Benjamin. The other 12 of the "24 Elders" will probably be the 12 Apostles who headed up the New Testament Church who were: Simon Peter, Andrew, James the Greater; John, Philip, Bertholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James the Less, Judas Lebbaeus Thaddaus, Simon Zelotes the Canaanite, Matthias (who replaced Judas Iscariot) or else Paul the Apostle.

These 24 Elders are prophetically representative of the entire Church of the Old Testament and the New Testament in that they say, as they behold Christ on the Throne: Rev. 5:9 — "You were slain and You have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every kindred, tongue, and people, and nation" (and we note that the "Church Of Jesus Christ" is indeed made up of peoples out of "every kindred, tongue, and people, and nation"). We also note that it is the believers who make up the Church Of Jesus Christ who has been "redeemed by the blood of Christ".      The fact that these "24 Elders" are only a representation of the entire Church of the Old Testament and the New Testament is also seen by the fact that as "the camera draws back to show the entire scene around the Throne", Rev. 5:11 says "and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands."

As we behold these "24 Elders" around the Judgment Throne Of Christ we see that they are clothed in "white raiment" which are the "Robes of Righteousness" indicating that they have been tried before the fiery eyes of Jesus and found to be innocent of sin, and thus they are "clothed in white", indicative of their innocence and righteousness.

3) Crowns — not only are these "24 Elders" clothed in "white robes" but they also have "Crowns" upon their heads, which is another of the rewards that the believers will receive at the Judgment Seat Of Christ:
Rev. 4:4 — "...and they had on their heads Crowns Of Gold".

There is a number of various types of "Crowns" that the believers will be eligible to receive at the Judgment Seat Of Christ, which are:

     1) The Incorruptible Crown — which is a "Victor's Crown" for those who victoriously overcome sin and temptation — I Cor. 9:25 — "Every man that strives for the mastery is temporate in all things...they do it to receive a Corruptible Crown, but we an Incorruptible Crown."

     2) The Crown Of Rejoicing — which is a Crown that is given to soul-winners — I Thess. 2:19 — "What is our hope...or Crown Of Rejoicing? Are not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? For you" (who we have won to the Lord) "are our glory and joy."

     3) The Crown Of Life — which is a Martyr's Crown — Rev. 2:10 — "...the Devil will cast some of you into prison that you may be tried...be faithful unto death and I will give you a Crown Of Life."

     4) The Crown Of Righteousness — which is a Crown who especially love the Doctrine of the Second Coming Of Christ, who live a righteous life in preparation for that event — II Tim. 4:8 — "Henceforth there is laid up for me a Crown Of Righteousness which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, will give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all those who love His appearing."

     5) The Crown Of Glory — which is a Crown of reward for service which is given to faithful Preachers and Pastors and Teachers of the Word of God — I Pet. 5:2-4 — "Feed the flock of God" (the believers) "which is among you...be examples to the flock...and when the Chief Shepherd" (Jesus Christ) "appears, then you shall receive a Crown Of Glory which fades not away."

     4) Various Degrees Of Ruling Authority with the Lord upon the Earth during the 1000-year "Millennial Reign" of Jesus Christ — Luke 19:17 — "And He" (the Lord Jesus Christ) "said unto him: 'Well done you good and faithful servant; because you have been faithful in a very little, have you authority over 10 cities.'"

Even though the resurrected/"raptured" believers will be rewarded by the Lord at His Judgment Seat Of Christ, they do not feel worthy of those rewards as when they behold the Lord Jesus Christ upon His Throne, they begin falling down before Him and taking off their Crowns and casting them at His feet as we read — in Rev. 4:10-11 — "The Four and Twenty Elders fell down before Him who sat upon the Throne and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their Crowns before His throne saying: 'You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power for You have created all things and for Your pleasure they are and were created." Rev. 5:12 — "Saying, with a loud voice: 'Worthy is the Lamb who was slain" (Jesus Christ, the "Lamb Of God", as John the Baptist called Him) "to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing."

Let us, while here in this earthly life, begin now giving the Lord Jesus Christ "glory and praise and honor" because we will in Heaven throughout eternity when we are judged by Him at the "Judgment Seat Of Christ" for He is worthy of all praise for it was by His shed blood that we have been redeemed!
